Kendra, Mother of our client Logan

Marie and her team at Empowerment Services are an amazing group of professionals. They are able to see the world through my son’s eyes, and help him to learn to navigate our world successfully. I feel indebted to them for their compassion, their dedication, and their insight. Thank you for all you’ve done!

Becky White, sister of our client Bob

My brother started receiving services from ES as an untreated adult in his fifties. Before receiving services from ES, he would become very agitated and refuse to vary from his routine or even make simple changes in his daily schedule. He has made significant progress in communicating with others, interacting with new people apropriately, and in reducing some unwanted behaviors.

Sister of our client, Andy

Andy was diagnosed with autism at age 41. Growing up, Andy was identified as having many disorders in addition to mental retardation, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Our parents took him to many specialists in the 1950s and 1960s in their search for help or a cure. They were told Andy had brain damage, and he was given a label of "trainable mentally retarded." There was no mention of autism, though many of the early letters from our mother indicate Andy had many of the symptoms of disconnectedness that we now associate with autism.

Norma Crocker, parent of our client Kenton

"I found my dreams and prayers for Kenton come true at Empowerment Services - Marie and her Team Members. I had resolved myself to the fact that I would never find that person who would know the inside of Kenton and how smart he is, and be able to know what level to work with him for any progress. Someone who would respect the kindness he feels towards others and the empathy he has for people. In every program he has attended, no one has ever figured out the finesse it takes to bring Kenton to an understandable, trainable, workable level to be able to produce results.

Heidi, mother of our client Ryan

"Our son, Ryan, has Asperger's Syndrome, and is very good at holding it together in public so it was really hard to get people to take us seriously and understand what we were going through at home. We had been seeing a clinical psychologist who specializes in ASD (autism spectrum disorder). He helped us work through some difficult times with self-destructive behavior and when I inquired about help with advocating for Ryan at school, he referred us to the most extraordinary, knowledgeable, compassionate and vibrant person, Marie Johnson with Empowerment Services.

Joni Anderson, SLP/Special Education Advocate/Consultant for Families who have kids with special needs.

Marie and I have had some marvelous experiences together as colleagues. It is amazing to see how our paths continually criss-cross as we journey through life. One of the unique experiences we have had together is ‘thinking out of the box’. We were an incredible team in the educational settings. I am confident that Empowerment Services will touch many lives and create Enthusiasm, Miracles, Prowess, Opportunity, Wholeheartedness, Encouragement with a bit of Rock N Roll to Majestically Explore and Nurture in a Tranquil environment. You Go Girl!!

Arthella Starke, former supervisor at NW Regional ESD

"She is well respected by peers, school personnel, and parents and is sought after for consultation and training by all. Marie is our 'go to' person as her advice is always insightful, informative, and right on... her resources are extensive and her skills are excellent."
